In 2010 I prepared the Unbearable Ordinariness of Being project. Taking advantage of the fact that the gallery was located in what had been an old apartment, I decided to elicit the atmosphere of abandoned residency. Bathtub, radiator, shelf with a glass, ventilator, wall clock. Objects accompanying our everyday life, with their functionality, were presented in a new position. “Resignation” to their current status changed them to a new mode of existence. A new model reality: rejection of the laws of gravitation, renunciation of functionality, deliberate self-destruction. We find ourselves amid a reality where objects have “awakened” and begun to be aware of their identity. Reality opens a space for imagination and casts doubt on the truth of what we perceive, and it seeks answers to fundamental questions of being.
