Over the course of several years, Stano Masár's relationship with the places he "occupies" has developed. At the beginning, it was about installing objects according to proportional spatial principles (Back to the Stars, SNG). Today we are seeing (after Remote Moving, CC Centrum and 22OO N, Copenhagen) already his third exhibition, which can be understood in the literal sense of the word project.
Masár's thematic cycle analyzing and varying the motif of stairs in a scale from their architectural quality to self-supporting quality can also be applied to any other space. This is the character of a universal site-specific element, which is a typical strategy for this author. The current exhibition presents a cleaned up architectural structure. Masár avoided any reference to time, place or other parameters of reality.
The object architecture is expressively minimalist, it tries to merge with the environment into a unified whole. The question of functionality is Masár's second permanent polemic - a polemic that we can extend to the dispute between art and design. He seduces her mainly through inverted symbolism, using things that are themselves symbols.
